Today marks the launch of Siri AI, Apple’s next-generation intelligent assistant, designed to offer a more personalized and capable user experience. This new version of Siri, powered by the advancements in Apple Intelligence, is part of the 2027 software releases, which are set to enhance the apps and experiences people use daily with more personal and helpful features.
Siri AI represents a significant leap forward in conversational capabilities, enabling it to understand personal context, access broad world knowledge, and interact with onscreen content. This allows Siri AI to assist users by retrieving specific information from messages, emails, and photos, as well as answering questions on a wide range of topics. The assistant’s abilities extend to systemwide app actions, which include tasks like drafting emails or editing photos.
For instance, if a user inquires about an activity a family member proposed for an upcoming visit, Siri can search through messages to find that they suggested baking a family recipe and then retrieve the necessary instructions from an email. Furthermore, Siri can automatically add the ingredients to the user’s grocery list in the Reminders app.
Rolling out today in English, Siri AI will soon expand to other languages, including French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. The new Siri offers more detailed responses and natural conversations, helping users accomplish more efficiently.
Siri AI is integrated into Apple’s ecosystem, working seamlessly with third-party apps like WhatsApp and Audible. Soon, it will support tasks such as drafting emails in Microsoft Outlook or adding restaurant recommendations to Tripsy.
The assistant also features onscreen awareness, allowing it to perform actions related to content users are viewing. For example, while browsing a sports team’s website, users can ask Siri to find and add upcoming home games to their calendar. Additionally, Siri AI can leverage its extensive world knowledge to provide up-to-date information on various topics, from sports scores to vacation planning tips.
Users can continue conversations with Siri by asking follow-up questions, and they can activate Siri across different Apple devices with ease. On iPhones, Siri can be invoked using the side button or by swiping down from the Dynamic Island. On iPads and Macs, it is integrated into Spotlight and systemwide context menus. Apple Vision Pro users can interact with Siri through spatial computing, placing a 3D visualization anywhere in their environment.
The dedicated Siri app allows users to revisit or start new conversations, with iCloud syncing ensuring a seamless experience across iPhone, Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro.
Siri AI also introduces more expressive voices and improved dictation accuracy, thanks to the AFM Core Advanced on-device model. This offers users customization options for Siri’s voice expressiveness and pace, alongside precise text dictation that automatically handles formatting.
Visual Intelligence is now available on iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro, enhancing Siri’s ability to understand and interact with visual content. Users can, for instance, use the Camera app to ask Siri about a music festival poster and have it create calendar events. On iPad, this feature is integrated into the screenshot experience, and on Mac, it is accessible via a keyboard shortcut.
Siri AI’s writing tools allow users to generate and refine text drafts across various applications. Siri can tailor communications in Mail and Messages to match users’ usual styles and offer writing tips.
Later this year, Audio Intelligence will add new capabilities to the Apple Watch, helping users stay aware of their surroundings. These features maintain privacy by processing audio in isolation within the device and do not store recordings.
Apple’s new architecture, built with privacy as its core principle, powers these advancements. The integration of the latest Apple Foundation Models and Private Cloud Compute ensures users’ data remains secure and private.
