Samsung Electronics announced the successful hosting of the #PlayGalaxy Cup World Final from August 27-28, as part of its comprehensive showcase at Gamescom 2026. The event was held at Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany from August 26-30.
The #PlayGalaxy Cup, a global mobile gaming tournament, highlights the advanced gaming capabilities of the Galaxy smartphone series. This year introduced a full-season league format, featuring regional qualifiers leading to the World Final.

Regional Qualifiers and World Final
The tournament encompassed five regions: North America, Southwest Asia, Southeast Asia, Latin America, and Europe. A total of 32 teams from 17 countries competed, with the top two teams from each region advancing to the World Final. This culminated in 10 teams from nine countries competing at Gamescom.
All participants in the World Final utilized the Galaxy S26 Ultra, benefitting from its robust processing capabilities and optimized thermal management, ensuring stable and immersive gameplay.
Victory and Global Reach
The Malaysian team triumphed at the World Final, their victory streamed live on YouTube via streamer Ludwig’s channel, accumulating 12.1 million views worldwide.
Enhanced User Engagement at Gamescom
In addition to the tournament, Samsung operated a dedicated Galaxy experience zone at the venue, allowing visitors direct interaction with devices such as the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.
Collaborations with major gaming companies like HoYoverse, TiMi Studio, and Gameloft enabled attendees to experience an array of popular game titles across Samsung’s Galaxy devices.
