CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife among 13 killed die in a chopper crash near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu

Bipin Rawat, the first-ever Chief of Defence Staff of India along with his wife died in an IAF chopper along with 11 others. The chopper crashed 10 km before their destination near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu on December 8.

“With deep regret, it has now been ascertained that General Bipin Rawat, Mrs Madhulika Rawat and 11 other persons on board have died in the unfortunate accident,” the Indian Force shared a tweet.

It is reported that Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister informed Narendra Modi, Prime Minister, India about the incident.

As per the reports, three injured people from the crash were taken to a nearby hospital. The crash took place in the Nilgiris, shortly after the Mi-series chopper took off from the army base in Sulur.
