The demand for high-quality audio experiences has driven the evolution of audio devices beyond mere sound playback. Modern speakers are now integral design elements that enhance the ambiance of a space while offering both superior audio quality and visual appeal.
Samsung Electronics introduces the Music Studio, a wireless Wi-Fi speaker, which exemplifies this transformation. Inspired by the imagery of an orb and a dot to symbolize sound expansion, the Music Studio’s unique design harmonizes with any space while delivering lush, immersive audio.
Understanding Listener Needs: From Casual to Immersive
The diverse preferences of audio consumers have led to tailored audio experiences from Samsung. Jongmin Kim of the Product Planning Group highlighted, “We’ve preserved sound integrity while ensuring the product’s seamless integration into various environments.” Samsung’s introduction of two distinct Music Studio models is based on consumer insights, targeting ‘casual listeners’ who prefer background music, and ‘immersive listeners’ who desire detailed sound engagement.
To further enhance user experience, Samsung collaborated with global partners to integrate features like Spotify Tap, a Wi-Fi-based innovation enabling music playback with a single button press.
Spatial Audio Innovation with Music Studio 7
Music Studio 7, developed over nearly two years, aims to bring live-like audio immersion into everyday spaces. It features a 3.1.1 Channel system, delivering multidirectional sound. Jongbae Kim from the Sound Lab explained, “Waveguide and Pattern Control technologies are pivotal for managing sound directivity, enabling a single speaker to convey spatial audio akin to a live setting.”
These technologies allow clear perception of sound location and movement. AI Dynamic Bass Control further enhances performance by minimizing low-frequency distortion in compact speakers.
Design and Sound Fusion in Music Studio 5
Music Studio 5 epitomizes the balance between sound quality and sculptural elegance. Minsun Kang of the Product Design Group detailed the design journey, influenced by collaboration with furniture designer Erwan Bouroullec. “Our design blends artistic vision with practicality,” said Kang, noting the challenges in integrating aesthetic form with acoustic function.
Music Studio 5’s micro-perforated structure supports its dual role as both a design object and a high-performing speaker. This effort was recognized with the Gold Award at the iF Design Awards 2026, celebrating the synergy of technology and aesthetic appeal.
Integrated Audio Ecosystem with Q-Symphony
Music Studio extends beyond standalone functionality, offering an integrated entertainment experience through its seamless connectivity. Jongmin Kim emphasized that Music Studio can be positioned freely, delivering optimized sound for various content types.
The Q-Symphony feature enhances this integration by allowing connection with Samsung TVs and up to five devices, including soundbars, to create immersive surround-sound environments. This system supports up to 19.1.8-channel audio configurations, providing rich, room-filling sound.
Samsung’s innovative approach with Music Studio not only elevates audio performance but also sets a benchmark in combining sound technology with refined design, enriching everyday spaces.
